Two roads diverged in a wood and I....

...Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,

I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

Anybody who knows Ben knows that this poem is a perfect fit for him.  Since we've been married, our travels have always been filled with lots of adventure, excitement and....getting "lost".  But every time we get "lost" we always find something really fun and end up being really glad we got "lost."  Not to be confused with the phrase, "Get lost."  This trip is no different...instead of taking the fast route, we somehow ended up on the long route, and even though we didn't get into our hotel until 2:00 am (our time), we had such a blast...

Since we have places to go and people to see, I'll make this short, but we wanted to keep y'all updated on our travels....

First stop: Trader Joe's, of course!  They open at 9:00 am, and we were there 20 minutes before...which meant a quick trip to see Grandma Rose.

She had a wig for us, but I left my camera in the car, so I had to use my phone...ain't she a doll?!?!?

Next stop was Sissy's hair salon in one of my favorite towns in our neck of the woods...
(This is a middle of the cut shot...I'll get pictures of the final look for you, Jess!)

And I really did mean woods.  Our beautiful drive down Highway 4...if they didn't get SO much snow, I'd seriously consider moving up there...

 Ahhh, such a peaceful setting...

Once we got over the pass, we stopped for some lunch.  Ben picked a beeeeeautiful spot on the side of the road, nestled in the mountains and RIGHT next to a creek.  Lilyana looks a bit dazed...she had been sleeping just prior to this picture.

"All because two people fell in love..."

 Nice view, eh?

 Hey Dad!  Remember this?!?!?!

Being in the car for 800 miles means LOTS of time together...which makes me happy. :)

Like I said, we like to get "lost."  And this time, we found a really neat SAND DUNE!!!!
Isn't it pretty?

Ben thought it would be fun to climb to the top...never mind that it is 600 feet high!!!!

The guys who made these tracks with their quads thought we were crazy...

 Shadow shots.

 Our tracks in the sand.

We made it!!!!!  And now, Ben isn't sliding down with the baby.  He did carry her all of the way up, though.  AND we figured out why the Bedouins try to always walk on the top of the dunes...

 Check out that view!

 Happiness...and utter exhaustion!

My adorable and dashing husband.  Epic, isn't it?

Heading back to the car.  Going down was MUCH easier than going up!

The sun quickly setting...and at this point, it was just over our home.

Ben pulled over once we were completely away from all city lights.  We wanted to see what the first settlers would've seen.  It was so quiet, gorgeous and FREEZING COLD!!!  Oh, and we saw a falling star. :)

So, we're off to see my great-grandfather and plan the rest of our trip!

Reporting from Utah,

Tiffay for BLT

Hi Tiffany,
I got to your blog through your mom's. I am also a homeschool mom, etc.
I enjoy your blog bec i also enjoy good food, but especially because it shows the beauty of a young christian marriage done "a la God" . It also shows a healthy way of living.
BUT... I think something is missing. You do not show very much your christian faith. You do show the results of it, but you do not mention often Jesus, The Word or the Church in your blog. Is there any reason for it?
In Christ.

Lovely sunset and night sky.

When I was girl growing up in So.Cal, we used to drive through the Mojave Desert at night headed to Nevada to visit my grandparents. The sky away from all the lights is so amazing and something I'll never forget...now hitting jackrabbits? That is another story...

How fun. The dune was HUGE! I can't believe you climbed all the way up. The shadow picture was really cool as well. I liked the contrast between California and Nevada - pretty amazing change in ecosystems. Keep having fun on your family vacation!
Love you all, Mumsie/Grandmum

Love, love, love! I wish I had been with y'all - that looks like so much fun! And I think the picture of Lilyana with the wig is my favorite - she looks like a baby Rapunzel. :D

And yes, I want to see the new "do" pictures! Pretty please. :-)

Love y'all! <3

Looks like y'all are having a blast!
Y'all should check out the Bonneville Sand Flats. They're a place I *really* want to visit in Utah! :)

Carolina,

Tiff is getting things packed for the next leg of our journey, so you get me instead! (Sorry, I know I am not the celebrity of the two of us, but people say I am pretty cute...)

It is so easy to ask a question that seems simple, but I could write a book on my answer. Since we are in the blogosphere, I'll try to give you the abridged answer. Christ is the foundation of our lives, marriage, and everything we do. On that foundation, we have built our views, which ultimately effects every action we make, every day. It so pervades our very being, that we could not separate it, any more than we can stop breathing. You said you can see the results of God in our lives? Good! That is exactly what we are trying for. In the same way that we want you to see that we are alive, and know that the only reason for that is because we are breathing, know that we are spiritually alive because we are "breathing" Christ. Adding a "Praise God", or a "Thank you Jesus" to prove the fact seems a little forced.

Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. ~ 1 John 2:3-5

Hopefully that gives you a little more insight into the Hector family. Thanks for the question, and happy reading!

Mrs. Rabe,

Seen two jackrabbits try their luck with the front of the car, but we've managed to evade any deadly incidents.

Mom,

Only 400 miles from Mountain Ranch, but as different as can be!

Jess,

I'll get Tiff to send you some!

Kelsey,

Sorry, we are going to miss NM this trip. But, we are talking about Texas at some point, so we will have to put you down as a waypoint.

Josiah,

Those are on the border of Nevada and Utah. I saw the exit for them, but it was about 1am, and I reeeally didn't feel up to it at that point! *grin*

Thanks for your answer, Ben.
I was just wondering that if a non believer happens to get into your blog, how long would that person take to find out that the basis of all your beautiful family life is Jesus? If you do not mention your faith so often, how are non christians going to know the source and foundation of your life?
